We as a family are going to move to Iceland as soon as we can get things situated here and sell all extra stuff. I only would really miss gardening. Can I have a garden there and at least grow greens or something? How about a cold frame (miniature greenhouse) or a greenhouse? Would I need to have lights? Would that get expensive? Would Geothermal heating be costly for a medium to large sized greenhouse? Also, I am vegan and my dad says it would be hard because it just takes ONE Day for all the produce in the entire Island to be gone because most is imported. It has been 11 years since he actually lived there, is it still like that today? For those who buy a lot of produce, how much does an average bag of carrots cost? How much would that weigh? Sorry if that is too many questions but I need to know. Lastly, what is a good site or book or DVD that teaches the Icelandic Language???

Having lived in Florida, the winter in North Carolina can be long and boring. I would just appreciate some new ideas for continuing my gardening during the winter months. I have a greenhouse.

Mainly flowers like Shasta Daisies and grasses such as Pampas as well as herbs.
Also can anyone recommend a website or two with useful information on growing vegetable plants?

I’m new to gardening and am getting a greenhouse built this spring as a late Christmas present :)

We’re building a greenhouse in a couple months and you will be able to access directly from the back door. It will have a water garden and a bunch of plants. Is it a good idea to add a kitty door to let my kitten have access to it? She’s an indoor cat so I will probably never let her outside unless she’s in an enclosure. Is this a good idea? Or not. Thanks.
