Help with tropical or colorful flowers?

I’m planting a garden and want to include various orchids, plumeria and hibiscus. I also want to include other hanging and flowers with big colorful plumage. I’m not looking for any generic flowers that most gardens have. I live in Sacramento, California the temps range from 40-100+ degrees throughout the year and it’s not very humid. What are some other suggestions of flowers that I might like and would they survive in my area or would a greenhouse be a better bet.
