Is this normal for chili plants?
Cardinal Fang asked:
We’re growing chili peppers in our greenhouse. The fruits are about about 3 cm/ 1 inch long – about the size of regular bird eye or finger chilies.

Recently they’ve started to turn black.
The plants look very healthy, the pods are nice and firm, the seeds inside the chilies look fine. The fruits look like ordinary chilies. They’re just turning black.
Is this normal?
We don’t know what variety they are.
Oh and are they edible?

I have seen and purchased jalapenos that are black and shiny, there are even bell pepper plants that produce “black” or deep purple fruits. I don’t think it is bad. Enjoy your peppers!
