I’m looking into starting a garden in my backyard. I read everywhere that you need to make sure that the soil is good. I live in Arizona so the soil is pretty much lacking in everything. Would it be easier and better to just use raised planters? I’m just wanting a small veggie garden. Things I can use in cooking such as peppers, tomatoes and possibly lettuce. I plan on putting some type of cover up such as a greenhouse but want to grow on the ground. Any good suggestions?

P.S. I’m not completely naive when it comes to gardening since I grew up with my mom who always had a garden its just that she doesn’t know much about planting in Arizona.
