I found a few links online about how to build a greenhouse that will maintain enough heat on a sunny day (even in Winter) so that one can include a loft and sleep out there comfortably. Do you really think that’s possible with no electricity? I read about ways to maintain the heat (like by constructing the windows at the right angle to maximize the sun potential, putting special materials beneath the flooring, and putting lots of sand- filled milk jugs painted black around the outside, etc. but it still seems unlikely that it could work in a New England winter. The articles even went so far as to say that the structure should stay warm (enough) even if there is minimal sun for a couple days after a sunny day or two. What do you think? Anyone seen this work?

and how will i go about shading it. also how do u measure the sun your greenhouse takes is there a website that somehow how maps how much sun places get?

Husband and I started a bunch of seedlings. This is our first foray into gardening that does not consist of buying a shrub, digging a hole, and inserting shrub. We don’t know what we’re doing. We’ve been bringing them all out for sun every morning and bringing them in at night. Mine are in one of those plastic mini-greenhouse things. I had a bunch of alyssum growing. They looked really good this morning and how they’re all shrively and wrinkled. What did I do?

I covered my greenhouse with screens that, alas, break after a couple of months under the sun. It is apparently made of something like a plastic material. Any suggestions? What to use so that the greenhouse cover will last?

We live in California and are planning on building a premaculture chicken/greenhouse. The greenhouse on the south side of the coop. We are finding a difficult full sunny spot. We plan to grow herbs, tomatoes and lettuces in it . How much sun will our greenhouse actually need?
