there is a bird in my garden.(scotland)?
Hezzz asked:
i let my puppies out to the garden earlier but there was a bird that wasn’t flying… it just hopped away, well into the greenhouse but it tries to fly but cannot get lift, i took the puppies in (which resulted in a smelly surprise for me when i got in). i don’t know what to do about it. its grey in colour, has black and white feathers mixed in with the grey, its about a crows size, anyone know what type of bird it is
and what can i do? bearing in mind that i am 15 and my mum is not in…please, i don’t want to let it die.
after i wrote this question the bird went away, icouldn’t find him/her. oh well. its nature i suppose. :\

Perhaps it is some type of blue jay. I’d call a wildlife rehabber in your area or the local animal shelter to take care of it. Most native species will be nursed back to health a released. It would be nice if you could take a picture of it and post it, but it may be just a fledgling that is only just now learning how to fly. Unless it is injured, put it back where you found it and try to keep the puppies away for a while.
